8: How to Personalize Your MacBook

Hey there! Do you use a MacBook? Is it hard to keep your files organized? Do you want to make your Mac more customized? You’re in the right place!

Even if you have been using a Mac for a while now, you might not know it’s full potential until you mess around with the settings a bit! So, today, I wanted to share a few tips and tricks with you on how to personalize your MacBook and fit it to your own needs!

1. Desktop Sticky Notes

If you go to your Launchpad (it looks like a rocket), and go to the “other” folder, you should see an app called “stickies”. If you click on it, a sticky note will pop up. If you look to your upper left corner, you’ll see places to change fonts, the color of the note, and other settings. This is super useful when you need to jot down something quickly or remember something for the next day/week/period of time, as it will stay on your desktop!

2. How to Change Folder Icons

Did you know you could change the folder icons to make them look better? For this, you will need to search up an icon in the png format and download it to your desktop. Then select a folder, right click, and press “get info”. Once you do that, in the top left hand corner, you should see a small blue folder icon. Open up your png icon, go to edit, and copy the png. Then click on the small blue folder icon (it should be outlined in a highlight) and press ctrl v to paste! This should change your folder icon!

3. Accent Colors

To change your accent colors, go to “system preferences” and click “general”. Then you’ll see a variety of colors to choose from. These colors will change to the color you choose when you click on a search bar, folder, or any of the icons on the top bar of your desktop. (The default color, or the one we’re used to, is blue!)

4. Digital Clock Screensaver

Would you like to have a screensaver that told you the time? Well, look no further! Go to this link: https://fliqlo.com/#/screensaver, scroll down, and click download. Once you do that and it is downloaded, you can click the top icon which says “fliqlo.saver”. Then it’ll take you to screensaver options, and choose the clock! Then, you’re all set!

5. Customize Your Dock

To change the side or placement of your dock, you can go to “system preferences” and click “dock”. This will allow you to change the size of your dock, as well as place it either on the left, right, or bottom of your Mac! Also, for each item you don’t want to be shown on the dock, right click, then go to “options”, and select “remove from dock”.

I hope these tips helped you personalize your MacBook to fit your needs! Please comment if you enjoyed this post, or if you’d like to see any specific tips or tricks! Also, please let us know if you have your own tips by commenting!
